Andhra Police Seize Bulletproof Vehicle After YSRCP Activist Crushed in Convoy Incident Near Tadepalle

A major political controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh after a supporter of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) tragically lost his life during a rally led by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The incident occurred near Tadepalle, when a 65-year-old man named Cheeli Singayya was allegedly run over by a vehicle from Jagan’s official convoy. With growing public outcry and mounting political tension, the Andhra Pradesh police have now registered an FIR, naming Jagan, his driver, and key aides under culpable homicide charges. The incident has reignited fierce debates on VIP accountability, political responsibility, and convoy safety.

The tragedy took place during a crowded roadshow from Tadepalle to Sattenapalli, where Jagan’s supporters had gathered in huge numbers. According to police investigations and video evidence, the vehicle involved—a Tata Safari SUV equipped with bulletproof protection and registered for Jagan’s use—was allegedly responsible for running over the victim. The Guntur Police confirmed that the car bore a government-issued bulletproof status and was indeed part of the official convoy.

The FIR was filed under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide) and names not only Jagan but also his driver Ramana Reddy, PA Nageshwar Reddy, and senior YSRCP leaders. Police say the footage clearly shows the deceased under the wheels of the vehicle, shifting the case from accidental death to criminal liability.

In response, YSRCP leaders have slammed the FIR as “vendetta politics”, accusing the TDP-led government of using the tragedy to target political rivals. Jagan’s team initially claimed that the vehicle was private, not part of his official convoy. But forensic checks contradicted that claim, and the car was seized for investigation.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has hit back hard, stating that Jagan did not stop the rally even after the man was crushed, calling it the height of political insensitivity. The incident has gone viral, sparking mass debate and raising concerns about crowd management and VIP security protocols.
