Bihar BJP Chief Dilip Jaiswal Confirms Alliance and Slogan “2025 Phir Se Nitish”
In a move aimed at putting to rest any speculation regarding leadership in Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced that it will contest the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. BJP’s Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal, while speaking to the media in Patna, reaffirmed that Nitish remains the Chief Ministerial face of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state.
Jaiswal, recently appointed to head the party’s Bihar unit, also unveiled the alliance’s new campaign slogan: “2025 Phir Se Nitish”, a clear message to voters that the NDA plans to continue with Nitish Kumar at the helm. This announcement marks a critical moment in Bihar politics, especially after the political realignments that saw Nitish Kumar return to the NDA fold in 2024 after briefly partnering with the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan.

Why BJP Is Backing Nitish Kumar Again for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections
The BJP’s decision to project Nitish Kumar as the CM candidate once again signals a combination of political pragmatism and alliance discipline. Despite his past flip-flops between the BJP and opposition ranks, Nitish’s experience and administrative record still give him significant appeal among key voter segments—particularly Extremely Backward Castes (EBCs), women, and upper-caste communities.
Dilip Jaiswal made it clear that there is no ambiguity within the party regarding leadership. “We are contesting the elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and we have repeatedly said that he is our CM face,” he told reporters in Patna. By doing so, the BJP has also sought to send a strong message of alliance unity, especially in contrast to the opposition bloc, which remains fragmented and undecided on its leadership in the state.
The BJP-JDU alliance had successfully defeated the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, and this joint victory seems to have solidified the working relationship between the two parties. Though the BJP is dominant nationally, it has often taken a “big brother nationally, small brother regionally” approach when dealing with allies like Nitish in state politics. This tactic allows them to preserve alliances without projecting aggressive leadership claims that may alienate coalition partners.
Strategically, the slogan “2025 Phir Se Nitish” serves a dual purpose: it reinforces Nitish Kumar’s legacy of governance and ensures continuity, while also blunting any opposition attempts to portray the NDA as fractured or rudderless in Bihar. It also neutralizes internal demands within the BJP to promote a new face for the state.
With the political landscape heating up and Bihar’s complex caste arithmetic back in play, the BJP-JDU coalition seems to be banking on stability, familiarity, and administrative continuity. Whether this strategy will translate into electoral victory remains to be seen—but for now, the message is clear: Nitish is here to stay—with BJP’s full backing.
