Massive Multi-Agency Operation Launched as Intelligence Warns of Pakistan-Backed Plots
In a significant move to safeguard the lives of thousands of pilgrims undertaking the revered Amarnath Yatra this year, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is chairing a crucial security review meeting in Srinagar. This comes just days ahead of the annual Hindu pilgrimage, which begins on July 3 and continues until August 9, culminating on Raksha Bandhan.

The review meeting has brought together the top security leadership of the country, including heads of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force. Intelligence agencies are also present to finalize the action plan.
Why the urgency? Because the threat is real and imminent. Credible intelligence inputs indicate that Pakistan-backed terror groups, operating through proxies, may attempt to disrupt the pilgrimage by targeting devotees. This isn’t just hypothetical fear — past years have seen multiple attempts to incite terror during the Yatra. Therefore, the meeting isn’t a routine affair but a strategic response to counter a potential crisis before it begins.
How Delhi Plans to Secure the Sacred Route from Drone Strikes to Cross-Border Attacks
With approximately 500 companies of additional security forces already deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, today’s meeting is meant to lock down a foolproof action plan. Among those attending are the J&K Home Secretary, senior officers from paramilitary forces, and senior bureaucrats overseeing administrative coordination.
The central focus of the meeting is on finalizing deployment patterns, convoy movement strategies, coordination among different forces, and intelligence-sharing mechanisms. From Bhawan to Baltal and Pahalgam routes — each vulnerable stretch of the Yatra is being analyzed for risk mitigation. Special emphasis is being placed on surveillance and drone monitoring, given Pakistan’s increasing use of aerial tactics.
Post-meeting, Govind Mohan is expected to brief Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure central oversight of all security arrangements. The coordination between ground forces and central leadership signals a comprehensive and proactive approach to thwart any potential terror threat.
As India gears up for the sacred journey to Amarnath, the message is clear: faith will not be shaken by fear. In the face of cross-border threats and persistent attempts to destabilize peace in Kashmir, the government is making it clear that the safety of its citizens — especially devotees — remains a top national priority. The multi-agency response and tactical preparation are not just about crowd management, but about standing up to those who seek to break India’s communal harmony and spiritual unity.
