Naga Vamsi Bets Big on War 2, Calls It “Hat-Trick” with Jr NTR

In a major development for Indian cinema, producer Naga Vamsi has officially announced the acquisition of Telugu theatrical rights for War 2, starring Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan. The confirmation came on July 5, 2025, marking Vamsi’s third collaboration with Jr NTR after the successes of Aravindha Sametha (2018) and Devara: Part 1 (2024). With a price tag of ₹80 crore, this deal reflects immense confidence in Jr NTR’s pan-India appeal and solidifies War 2 as one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Naga Vamsi shared a video on X expressing his excitement: “It’s time for the hat-trick with my dearest @tarak9999 anna… You are going to witness the man of masses like NEVER before.” This hype is not just promotional—it’s strategic. With War 2 being Jr NTR’s Bollywood debut and a key part of the YRF Spy Universe, the stakes are higher than ever.

War 2 Telugu Rights Sold for ₹80 Cr as NTR Turns Antagonist

The deal to acquire Telugu distribution rights for War 2 was reportedly closed at ₹80 crore after an initial quote of ₹100 crore. Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments had previously delivered strong results with Devara: Part 1 in Telugu markets, and now aims for a box office hat-trick with War 2.

Jr NTR’s role in the film is unlike anything fans have seen before—he plays a powerful antagonist, going head-to-head with Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir Dhaliwal. Vamsi’s description of NTR as “man of masses like never before” hints at a character with depth, rage, and charisma tailored for the big screen.

This marks a new milestone in Jr NTR’s career as he steps into Hindi cinema under the direction of Ayan Mukerji, known for his grand visual storytelling. Vamsi’s investment reflects his belief that War 2 will dominate not just Hindi-speaking regions but also Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Spy Universe Expands: War 2 Brings Clash of Titans This Independence Day

War 2 is part of the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, following Pathaan and Tiger 3. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film features Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani, and rumored cameos from Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and possibly Alia Bhatt. The action-packed thriller will hit theatres on August 14, 2025, in five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

A massive dance number featuring NTR and Hrithik, choreographed by Bosco Martis and involving 500 dancers, is currently being shot at YRF Studios in Mumbai. This song, composed by Pritam, is expected to set the tone for the high-voltage clash between the two stars.

To maintain the suspense, the stars are avoiding joint promotions—adding to the mystery of their face-off. This calculated move ensures that fans walk into theatres with zero spoilers and maximum anticipation. With the Independence Day weekend release, War 2 will clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which features a cameo by Aamir Khan, making the box office battle even more intense.
