Special Cell Nabs Haryana-Based Criminal with 16 Cases from Rohini, Recovers Weapons

In a significant breakthrough against organized crime in the Delhi-NCR region, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested notorious gangster Rakesh Pampu, who was wanted in connection with multiple violent crimes across Haryana, including a recent murder in Murthal. The arrest was made during an early morning operation in Rohini, North West Delhi.

Confirming the development, DCP Amit Kaushik of the Special Cell stated that Pampu was apprehended with a pistol, live rounds, and a car—believed to have been used in recent criminal activities. His arrest is expected to help police crack open several unsolved cases tied to inter-state gangs.

Who Is Rakesh Pampu? Gangster with 16 Cases Held for Murthal Murder

Rakesh Pampu is a wanted gangster primarily operating in the Panipat and broader Haryana region, with a long and violent criminal history. According to Delhi Police, there are 16 registered cases against him, including:

    • Attempt to murder
    • Robbery
    • Loot
    • Possession of illegal firearms

His name came into the spotlight once again after a brutal murder at Veer Dhaba in Murthal, where a man named Deepak was gunned down in February 2025. Police investigations confirmed that Pampu was directly involved in the killing, prompting a manhunt across Delhi and Haryana.

The Special Cell’s tactical team tracked his movements to Rohini, where he was arrested in the early hours of the day. His apprehension is part of a larger crackdown on organized crime syndicates operating from Haryana and extending their networks into Delhi.

    During the operation, police recovered:

    • A loaded pistol
    • Several live cartridges

A car suspected to be used for transportation during criminal activity or possibly stolen

Officials say Pampu’s arrest could lead to the exposure of a wider criminal network, involving gun suppliers, vehicle rackets, and local-level informants who enabled his movement despite being on the run.

The Special Cell has now begun intensive interrogation of Pampu to uncover his associates, arms suppliers, and financial backers. Authorities believe he could be linked to multiple recent crimes, some of which may not yet be publicly connected to his name.

As law enforcement agencies continue their crackdown, this arrest signals a strong message to inter-state gangs: Delhi Police remains vigilant and ready to act decisively against organized crime, especially when it crosses jurisdictional boundaries.
