Ladakh Scouts Passing Out Parade Marks Major Agnipath Milestone with 194 Agniveer Recruits Ready for Mountain Warfare
In a proud and high-altitude military spectacle, 194 Agniveer recruits were inducted into the Ladakh Scouts Regiment at the Passing Out Parade held on 7 June 2025 at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre in Leh. Known as the “Snow Warriors” of the Indian Army, the Ladakh Scouts specialize in high-altitude warfare and form the Army’s frontline along the most hostile and frigid borders.
The parade, conducted at over 11,000 feet, was reviewed by Major General Gurpal Singh, YSM, SM, the General Officer Commanding of Uniform Force. The event was attended by senior military officers, civil dignitaries, and proud families, many of whom had traveled from remote Himalayan villages to witness the induction. The Passing Out Parade was held with full military precision at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre in Leh, upholding the high traditions of the Indian Army. The ceremony included the awarding of medals to outstanding trainees and the presentation of “Gaurav Padaks” to parents whose children are now following in their footsteps, continuing a legacy of service in one of the Army’s most respected regiments.
These 194 Agniveers underwent rigorous high-altitude training over several months. Their preparation included weapons training, survival tactics in sub-zero temperatures, mountaineering drills, and acclimatisation runs—essential for deployment in sectors such as Siachen, Turtuk, and other key points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
Major General Gurpal Singh praised the recruits’ dedication and physical resilience, urging them to carry forward the proud legacy of the Ladakh Scouts, who played a key role in the Kargil War and continue to guard some of India’s toughest terrains.
